Students as Practitioners

Seeing students as practitioners and future workforce members is an incremental shift that has paid high dividends in the classroom.  Click below to see a few examples of this approach in action.

GIS Enhanced Curriculum

The incorporation of Geographic Information Systems  (GIS) technology has revolutionized my instruction.  Using the iSTEM (integrated STEM) framework allows myself and colleagues to weave interactive, high demand workforce technology skills across disciplines, grade levels, and settings.  Click below to access classroom ready resources.

Workshops &
Trainings

Working with other educators and organizations we have developed immersive hands-on  professional development opportunities that  respect and reflect the realities of the classroom.  Click below to learn more.

PHILOSOPHY

Shift:  Educators and educational institutions are change agents. During the past 20 years learning technologies, instructional practices, and philosophies have shifted a great deal. What teachers, parents, and students desire from education has not.  Students want to be involved, engaged, inspired, and prepared when they leave high school.  To prepare the next generation it is imperative that educators and institutions adapt, innovate, and maintain flexibility.  To quote Charles Darwin,  "It Is Not the Strongest of the Species that Survives But the Most Adaptable."

Geo:  Geography is cool! Today's geography is not the geography that most of us remember.   It is a subject filled with interactive technologies, complex concepts, and is the interdisciplinary bridge schools need make sense of our complex world in a fun and dynamic manner. By using geography and geospatial technologies to enhance our classrooms we can provide iSTEM (integrated STEM) opportunities for all students in STEM and non-STEM courses. Doing this helps schools prepare students for the 21st century world that they will enter upon graduation.
